David Carrier's research and teaching are focused on the evolutionary morphology of tetrapods and musculo-skeletal biomechanics.
Jeremy Morris
email - j.s.morris@utah.edu
Jeremy Morris is a PhD candidate in the Department of Biology at the University of Utah. He studies musculoskeletal design in vertebrates and how sexual selection and natural selection shape the evolution of sexual dimorphism. Specific topics of interest in Jeremy’s research include morphological specialization for locomotor performance and aggressive behavior and the biomechanical and physiological underpinnings of animal performance. Jeremy teaches the Comparative Physiology Laboratory in the Department of Biology. He is also involved in a variety of public engagement projects and currently serves as a Science Communications Fellow at the Natural History Museum of Utah and as a Project Coordinator for INSPIRE (Initiative to Bring Science Programs to the Incarcerated). Jeremy is an avid traveler and spends most of his free time rock climbing and backcountry skiing in Utah’s fantastic mountains and deserts.
Lindsey Reader
email - readerlindsey@gmail.com
Lindsey Reader is a PhD candidate in the Department of Biology at the University of Utah and an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Lindsey is broadly interested in how locomotor function shapes life history and morphology, and is currently studying the form and function of climbing birds from a variety of perspectives. Lindsey is a three-year veteran of Utah’s GK-12 program, teaching developing curricula for advanced high school classes and supporting various outreach efforts. She will be teaching Extreme Adaptations with co-developer Sarah Garcia in Spring 2017. Lindsey takes biomechanics into the applied realm as a lifelong equestrian — competing, instructing, and facilitating riding opportunities for the disabled.
Amanda Cooper
email - amanda.cooper@utah.edu
Amanda Cooper is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology at the University of Utah. Her research interests reside in the functional morphology and biomechanics of vertebrate musculoskeletal systems, with an emphasis in understanding how and why complex traits, such as limb posture, have evolved. She also studies physical intrasexual competition, with the goal of beginning to elucidate which factors play a role in dominance and aggression.
